Kickstart BBQ Season

Kickstart BBQ Season

It is our favorite time of year again here at K Remodel! School is almost out, the grass is getting greener everyday, and it is the official start of BBQ season (yum!). Memorial day weekend is coming up, which means everyone has a long weekend to start and finish a project while also heating up the BBQ for some hot juicy burgers. While you wait for your friends to arrive for the first seasonal bbq, here are a couple ideas to keep you busy.

First things first, you need to pull a couple of those embarrassing weeds for your guest. Having a nice yard is a simple reminder of how much time you like to spend outside! Pull up those weeds and use some broadleaf weed killer to help keep those nasty eye sores at bay for the summer season.

If you have already groomed your yard and are anything like me, then the next step is to fix your fence. At our house, our pesky gate lock broke. The good news is that it seems like a simple fix that will help keep the gate closed during the next windstorm. You can go down to your local hardware store and pick up a new gate lock system for a pretty reasonable price. It takes a few minutes to install, but then it’s done and your backyard is more secure.https://www.google.com/search?q=picnic+table+plans&espv=2&biw=1399&bih=673&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&sqi=2&ved=0ahUKEwiisrnRpvPMAhVHJFIKHVx-CtAQ_AUIBigB#imgrc=o-dlAUUFEfGTEM%3A

Once the gate is finished, we can move on to larger back yard projects. For instance, I think it would be super fun to build a picnic table for my guests to enjoy during the BBQ season. Most local hardware stores sell pre-made picnic tables or picnic table kits. You can buy your kit and make the table yourself or buy one already made if you are being rushed for time.

Now that we have seating, it is time to create some shade for our guests. There are so many different types of shade!  You have your pergolas, covered patios, and awnings (check out our shade blog for more details), how do you even choose! Well it is a matter of style and price. You don’t even have to have a permanent structure if you choose. You could use a removable pergola or different sizes of umbrellas. There is an option out there for everyone!

The work is done, the yard looks great, and there is seating and shade! Happy Memorial Day! Let us celebrate and remember.
